What is CRA?
CRA (Concrete-Representational-Abstract) is a proven method for improving mathematics instruction. By physically manipulating concrete objects, students can better understand mathematical concepts. The three-stage process of using pictorial representations of the concrete manipulations and then solving problems using abstract notation has been shown to enhance students' mathematics performance in the classroom.
CRA Advantages
Mathematics is a subject that requires a lot of attention and practice. However, with the right teaching methods, it can be made easier and more enjoyable for students. By incorporating small group and peer teaching, teachers can appeal to multiple learners and allow for differentiation. This not only increases student achievement but also provides a understanding of core math concepts.
